It has become readily apparent that things are changing. Karak-Norn (EU) got a few transfers from Karak-Hirn last week and most of us here thought we were already close to full -- we had WAR in a zone or two every single night with the zergs moving from zone to zone chasing each other. What on earth is going on?
It's obivous that Mythic sees WAR differently than what I did, as they weren't content with our populatation. Now, I read the recruitment post for the servers premier guild a while ago, which stated that they (Crimson Imperium Reborn) were looking at setting up a "presence" in each contested zone in T4 during prime time. At the time I thought they were nuts, why keep a full warband in every zone all the time? Nothing will be happening most of the time, right? Er, no, wrong.
Welcome to WAR, Mythic style. Every zone, every tier, every keep, every battle objective. It's all supposed to have action. And, well, the extra population of an active people really brought this home. Once upon a time you'd log on Karak-Norn and ask "where is the RvR", these days, that's not a question outside of the wee hours of the morning. It's refreshing, in a sense, but it's also quite a shock to adjust to.
MMOs are by nature, and design, based around a lot of people doing stuff. Whatever stuff might be depending on the concept of the game. In WAR it's becoming pretty obvious that cross-warband organization is going to be vital. We've already seen pincher manouvers with multiple warbands take place these days, and it's getting more and more apparent that this is the future. This will put a new strain on warband leaders to communicate and on warband members to follow orders -- both of which are tricky enough on a large scale.
It's worth noting that this doesn't just mean "more of the same". We'll see more specialized groups now, people who're specialists at working the elven pairing, or a group that attempts to ninja BOs as timers tick via PvE routes whereever the need be, high mobility without a desire to fight. The next month will be very interesting to behold, and one thing seems to be certain -- WAR is everywhere.
